About the Project

The ISMOC project aims at the creation of a comprehensive multi-scale mathematical model of Human Cancer Cells. It is a group of diseases mostly caused by unregulated cell growth. In cancer, cells divide and grow uncontrollably, forming malignant tumors, and invading nearby parts of the body. The causes of cancer are complex, diverse, and has only been understood partially. Mathematical modelling of cancer cells help researchers understand the underlying mechancims of cancer's evolution and provides vital clues for the search of new therapeutic targets. In this project, we develop multi-layer mathematical models of cancer cells with a wide range of experimental data from literature. These models can be used to predict antagonistic effects of tumor cells and finding part of the pathway having the highest control on regulating the cells function. We expect that, in the long run, these initiative will play a key role in selecting molecular targets for new anti-parasite drugs.
