Glycine hydroxymethyltransferase catalyzes the chemical reaction that converts Serine to Glycine.

Reaction equation

 Serine \rightleftharpoons Glycine

Rate equation

A modified rate law is used to determine the velocity of this reaction.

 v = \frac{serD*KcatD* \frac{[Serine]}{KD_{Serine}} }{ 1 + \frac{[Serine]}{KD_{Serine}} + \frac{[Glycine]}{KD_{Glycine}} }

Parameters

Parameter Value Units Organism Remarks
serD 0.115 [1] mM Escherichia coli
KcatD 1.83 [1] 1/s
Failed to parse (Cannot store math image on filesystem.): KD_{Serine} 0.8[1] mM
Failed to parse (Cannot store math image on filesystem.): KD_{Glycine} 1 [1] mM
